When is a Garmin not a Garmin?

A high performance GPS receiver and personal trainer. Or is it?I love my Garmin Forerunner 305.  Most of the time. So what is it? It’s a fancy GPS receiver, heart rate monitor and watch all wrapped up in a snazzy little tool. But when is it no longer a Garmin? When the battery dies one mile in to what is sure to be a great 10 mile run on roads and trails. Then it’s nothing more than a nuisance. It feels bigger than normal. It tells me nothing. Distance? Ha. Pace? Yeah, right. Heart Rate? Not a chance. It’s a big, hulking computer strapped to my wrist that mocks me for not charging the battery after Friday’s ride.
