SavageMan Triathlon Westernport Wall minutes 40-50
I made it to YouTube! Woo Hoo, I think. At any rate, here is a clip from the SavageMan Triathlon – Westernport Wall. I’m at 8 minutes 38 seconds in a red and yellow jersey.
Here’s a little background on the climb from the [...]

Two weeks prior to the race, a group of 10 Mid MD Tri Club members headed out to Frederick County for a training ride. I’d heard of others doing this so-called “Happy Happy Pain Pain” ride and knew it would be good training. At 7:30 AM wheels were rolling, and climbing right out [...]

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don’t know where it goes
But it’s home to me and I walk alone
- Green Day, “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”
That’s not necessarily true but at times, when I’m training for events, it feels that way. I s’pose it all goes back to June 25, [...]

So this summer has been a blast and filled with baseball and lacrosse tournaments. But the training has been lacking and I’ve learned to accept that and just try to do what I can, when I can.
The weekend of July 18 son #2 was playing in a lacrosse tournament in Timonium, MD. His [...]

In the past three weeks, all but two two of my 12 runs have been on the treadmill. And prior to that I seemed to spend more time on the trails than the road. I’m pretty sure the marathon I plan to run in March will be on the pavement, not a treadmill [...]

The Metric Marathon was cancelled on Sunday due to snow and ice on the roads and paths. I was bummed to learn that while pouring my cuppa joe and getting ready to go. But a few MMTCers were going for a trail run at Patapsco State Park. Great idea! And it [...]

Five days after Savageman I found myself heading back out to western Maryland. This time in a van with 5 other runners and a driver. We were van #2 of the Bleekers, a team of 12 runners and two drivers that were running from Cumberland, MD to DC in the Ragnar Relay. [...]

So I’m feeling a bit better about my training for Savageman. Except I can’t figure out why I’m always sore after my “long” runs, which by previous standards, aren’t really that long. My goal for this past weekend was to get in a ride of at least 60 miles and a run of [...]

Last weekend was great for training. I was able to get in a 12 mile run, a 50+ mile bike and a 40 minute open-water swim. So, I almost covered the distances for Savageman but in the reverse order. That’s just how things worked out.
The bike ride was tough and was the day after my [...]

From the Savageman Triathlon website:
While the Westernport Wall may have claimed many victims in the SavageMan Half Triathlon’s first year, many Savages attempted and conquered the Wall as well. And those who did are to be rewarded with triathlon immortality: personally engraved bricks laid in the Wall for future Savage triathletes to ride over and [...]
